Dr. Landsverk,
My aunt is 88 and suffers from intermittent acute anxiety that when in place shows like a form of dementia, albeit temporary. She is on several daily meds to ease her anxiety and address some declining cognitive issues. Unfortunately, although being fairly active she is beginning to have balance issues and I am concerned with her falling.
She takes 11 RX meds. I would appreciate your thoughts on an 88 year old taking the following med for emotional and psych issues within these 11:
Daily
Depakote
Risperdal
Remeron
Desyrel
Effexor
As needed
Ativan
Understanding wo evaluating my aunt it is impossible for you to know what she should be taking. However, as a Geriatrician, I would appreciate any direction you believe is appropriate regarding my concern. Thank you.
Victor I.
