Can Reading and Writing Slow Dementia?

liz_bio_picA recent article in the Journal of Neurology added evidence that reading and writing can slow dementia adding more options to the important area of maintaining brain fitness. While certain computer programs can also augment brain power, most anything that challenges the brain to work can be positive. There is a recent article about a MRI study of London cabbies vs London bus drivers, looking at the hippocampus size ( related to memory).  The cabbies had larger hippocampi- USE IT OR LOOSE IT.
